Feature categories
App
The platforms or interfaces where you can access the notetaker.
Most notetakers have web apps that act as dashboards for reviewing past meetings. Mobile and desktop apps matter when you're actively capturing content. If you're mobile often, you need a mobile app. If you record desktop screens, you need a desktop app.
Recorder
The devices or platforms from which you can initiate recordings and capture audio/video.
This is different from just having an app. A "Desktop Recorder" means you can capture your screen or audio directly from your computer—useful for recording meetings where your notetaker can't officially join.
Ways to Join / Record
The different methods you can use to capture a meeting or recording.
Different workflows need different capture methods. Solo brainstorming needs dictation or upload capabilities. Joining calls on multiple platforms needs "On Demand via Join URL." Set-it-and-forget-it automation needs "Calendar Event."

Instead of: Copy transcript → Paste into Claude → Ask question
You get: "Claude, go find the meeting where we discussed X and summarize it."

App connections
Send meeting information to other apps and start follow-up tasks automatically.
Zapier, n8n and Make connect apps together. A ready-made connector gives you prebuilt steps. A webhook sends information when something happens, such as a meeting ending. API setup means building a custom connection and usually needs more technical help. Check each provider’s connection details for the setup method and any limits.
